VINTAGE RACING ON A 1926 INDIAN SCOUT

How would you like to race a motorcycle that is old as you are? Butch Baer did. When Butch retired in 1982 he restored an Indian, went racing and had a ball for the next 15 years. He traveled the country in vintage races on many famous race tracks, met up and raced with old competitors, some of them very famous in their day. He has blown motors and trannys, crashed, been black flagged, raced in the rain, and in 1992 he came home a winner, sporting the #1 plate as high point winner in the pre-40 class. Imaging a 1926 Indian Scout, originally designed to top out about 50 mph, screaming down the Bonneville Salt Flats at 99.44 mph. He just couldn't hit the 100 mph mark.
